So you want to refresh the look of the interior of your home, but don’t quite have the budget to refurnish? Then you have to know what inexpensive things can be done to pack a big punch.
Firstly, start by decluttering and donating or selling what you no longer need. You would be amazed at how quickly clutter takes over your home and how many items we don’t actually use. Once you do a thoughtful declutter (and even earn some money from your Gumtree sells), then you will start seeing where you can add a new accessory, or what space can stay bare to showcase a beautiful material. Or it may highlight that what is needed is a lick of paint.
The quickest and easiest way to revitalise a space is with paint. Paint colours are trend based, and what we thought was gorgeous 10 years ago, may look outdated now. A fool proof way to use paint to your advantage is to go with neutrals that brighten up any room. Do work with the orientation of your home and natural light of the space as this affects how a colour is perceived in a room.
Another way to easily upgrade a space without spending too much money is to replace or rearrange old and tired accessories. Add new bed linen, cushion covers (keep the inserts) and throws, or move them around in your home. Rearrange a bookcase so it looks fresh. Get a new centre piece for your coffee table. Change table lamps in bedrooms or living areas, or even have a go at DIY and repurpose your existing lamps. I’ve spray-painted some pendant lamps and even floor lamps to repurpose them and the end result was just as good as if I had bought new, but it feels more special because I did it myself.
Finally, add some greenery. Live plants always make a space look livelier and fresh. You don’t have to turn your home into a nursery, just get few plants in different sizes to scatter around or cluster in a sunny corner of your home.
If you just don’t know what to change or how to go about freshening up your interiors, then give us a call, and we can help you transform your space.
